About our Armor:
What types of Armor Plate do we use?
  • CATI Armor AR500 Level 3
AR500 Armor Plate is a high hardness (HH) steel used for High Impact Ballistic and Abrasion Resistant (AR) applications.  Level 3 is rated for M80 Ball at 2800 Feet per second.

  • CATI Armor AR600 Level 3+:
The CATI Armor AR600 armor Ultra High Harness (UHH) exceeds level 3 standards and is special threat tested to the 5.56 round of M193 up to 3100 feet per second.

  • CATI Armor Pistol Hard Plate 3a+:
At 5mm thick, the CATI Armor pistol hard plate is constructed of a super thin AR500 ballistic steel.  Far exceeds the capability of standard 3a soft armor in ballistic capabilities and blunt force trauma.  The hard plate is virtually impenetrable in the slash and stab test for knives and spiked objects.

  • CATI Armor Pistol Soft Armor 3a:
3a soft armor is constructed of multiple layers of Aramid Kevlar and is great flexible option as a backpack panel, or an armor plate backer.

 Plate Coating Options:
  • What we use:
We utilize a Rhino Linings Extreme product that is recommended and developed specifically for anti-splatter (spalling) mitigation by Rhino Linings Military Research and Development.  This is Rhino Linings top of the line product for armor applications.  The only other product on the market that is equal in properties is Line-X PAXCON.

  • Base Coat:
Base coat is a thin coating of the ballistic steel to seal the armor from environmental elements.  This coating provides no measurable splatter mitigating properties. For splatter mitigation you need at least ¼ inch to be effective.

  • Build-Up Coat:
Build-Up coating is a ¼ inch of the Rhino Linings material applied to the strike face of the armor plate to mitigate splatter.  As the projectile passes through the coating and impacts the armor plate the fragments are trapped between the armor plate and the build-up coating layer.  The steel plate armor goes through a 4-step process of Blasting, Cleaning, Etching and Priming to achieve proper adhesion of the splatter mitigation coating.
Plate Forming Options:
  • CQB - Multi-Curve:
At the forefront of AR500/AR600 armor forming technology, we’ve created a “Patent Pending” protected process to achieve the greatest comfort, concealable and weight distributing steel armor plates on the market call the CQB for Comfort Quad-Bend.  The CQB is our top of the line forming process and is modeled from Tier 1 Operator armor plate curvature.  This double curve forming is tried and true for comfort and tactical applications.  The double curve form wears lighter than any other steel armor on the market.  The CQB can be placed in front or rear configurations.

  • EVO - Advanced Single Curve Plates:
As part of our *Patent Pending* forming technology, we’ve also created the Advanced Single Curve, the “EVO” plate.  This curve fits your torso, but does not have the weight distributing properties of the upper chest curve. The Advanced Single Curve can be placed in either front or rear configurations.

  • Trauma Pads:
Trauma pads are manufactured from a specifically designed from a high impact foam specifically formulated for protection from blunt force/high impact trauma.  These pads are designed to be worn on the body side of the ballistic plate and serve to provide shock absorption between the armor plate and the human body.  We seal each pad with an ultrasonic sewing machine into waterproof rip-stop nylon covering for durability and sanitary reasons.  They are very lightweight and are ¼ inch thick.

  • CATI AR600 10X12 Package with MULTI-curves

Posted by Michael on Jul 26th 2019

I, 100% completely recommend the CATI AR600 multi-curve plates as LOUD as I can shout ! I've never seen a set of plates that fit my smaller torso as comfortable as the multi-curve plates do. The price is MORE than reasonable and recommend these to ALL officers. Yes, the 3+ plates weigh a little more than one might expect but these HIGHER RATED plates are worth the additional weight for their INCREASED STOPPING POWER ! Buy the BEST - CATI AR600 3+ plates !

Bought this plate set to go into an LBT-6094A. They fit great in a carrier made for standard sized medium SAPIs, and of course the whole package costs about the same as one well priced SAPI plate.
They are a bit heavy, my whole setup weighs around 30 pounds. But the cost combined with the ability of steel plates to take multiple hits if need be offsets that to a degree in my mind. The CQB curve is very nice and does allow the carrier to sit very tight to the body, enhancing maneuverability quite a bit. The plates are special threat tested to xm193, which is a pretty tough round on armor due to its speed, and plenty of youtube videos are available to show how these plates withstand various rounds. I was impressed by the ability to take many rounds successfully. I'm happy with the quality of the package and the quick shipping.

  • Phenomenal plates for a phenomenal price

Very well made plates that fit perfectly in my carrier, and conform very nicely with my body.

First time doing business with CATI Armor. I had seen multiple positive reviews on Youtube about these plates and decided to give them a go. As a LEO I don't wear these on a regular basis, but they stay close by, just in case. The weight is a little on the heavy side, however, that's how it goes with steel body armor. But talk about COMFORT. I opted for the CQB Multicurve plates and they fit phenomenally to the natural contour of your body. Really makes the plates feel a lot lighter than they really are. The swimmer cut front plates make all the difference in your range of motion. Spall coating seems to be very solid. Plus great customer service and extremely fast shipping. All in all an excellent experience from CATI Armor. Will be recommending and shopping again in the future.
