About our Armor:
What types of Armor Plate do we use?
-
CATI Armor AR500 Level 3:
AR500 Armor Plate is a high hardness (HH) steel used for High Impact Ballistic and Abrasion Resistant (AR) applications. Level 3 is rated for M80 Ball at 2800 Feet per second. -
CATI Armor AR600 Level 3+:
The CATI Armor AR600 armor Ultra High Harness (UHH) exceeds level 3 standards and is special threat tested to the 5.56 round of M193 up to 3100 feet per second. -
CATI Armor Pistol Hard Plate 3a+:
At 5mm thick, the CATI Armor pistol hard plate is constructed of a super thin AR500 ballistic steel. Far exceeds the capability of standard 3a soft armor in ballistic capabilities and blunt force trauma. The hard plate is virtually impenetrable in the slash and stab test for knives and spiked objects. -
CATI Armor Pistol Soft Armor 3a:
3a soft armor is constructed of multiple layers of Aramid Kevlar and is great flexible option as a backpack panel, or an armor plate backer.
Plate Coating Options:
- What we use:
We utilize a Rhino Linings Extreme product that is recommended and developed specifically for anti-splatter (spalling) mitigation by Rhino Linings Military Research and Development. This is Rhino Linings top of the line product for armor applications. The only other product on the market that is equal in properties is Line-X PAXCON. - Base Coat:
Base coat is a thin coating of the ballistic steel to seal the armor from environmental elements. This coating provides no measurable splatter mitigating properties. For splatter mitigation you need at least ¼ inch to be effective. - Build-Up Coat:
Build-Up coating is a ¼ inch of the Rhino Linings material applied to the strike face of the armor plate to mitigate splatter. As the projectile passes through the coating and impacts the armor plate the fragments are trapped between the armor plate and the build-up coating layer. The steel plate armor goes through a 4-step process of Blasting, Cleaning, Etching and Priming to achieve proper adhesion of the splatter mitigation coating.
Plate Forming Options:
-
CQB - Multi-Curve:
At the forefront of AR500/AR600 armor forming technology, we’ve created a “Patent Pending” protected process to achieve the greatest comfort, concealable and weight distributing steel armor plates on the market call the CQB for Comfort Quad-Bend. The CQB is our top of the line forming process and is modeled from Tier 1 Operator armor plate curvature. This double curve forming is tried and true for comfort and tactical applications. The double curve form wears lighter than any other steel armor on the market. The CQB can be placed in front or rear configurations. -
EVO - Advanced Single Curve Plates:
As part of our *Patent Pending* forming technology, we’ve also created the Advanced Single Curve, the “EVO” plate. This curve fits your torso, but does not have the weight distributing properties of the upper chest curve. The Advanced Single Curve can be placed in either front or rear configurations. -
Trauma Pads:
Trauma pads are manufactured from a specifically designed from a high impact foam specifically formulated for protection from blunt force/high impact trauma. These pads are designed to be worn on the body side of the ballistic plate and serve to provide shock absorption between the armor plate and the human body. We seal each pad with an ultrasonic sewing machine into waterproof rip-stop nylon covering for durability and sanitary reasons. They are very lightweight and are ¼ inch thick.

Swim CQB
I recently swapped my AR Level III multi curve plates for the CATI Swim CQB cuts and I must say that I am very satisfied. The fit, feel, weight, price, and short wait for delivery beat out my AR plates on all points. Very happy with the purchase of these plates. When I can afford the level IV plates I will definitely come back to CATI

Multi Curve Swimmers Cut AR600 Plate
Coupled with a SAPI rear plate, and carried in a MOCP carrier, this combo, with it's multi curve feature, make for a very comfortable and form fitting system. I have a set of standard AR500 in a standard carrier and it moves around some even when drawn tight. The multi curve plates coupled with the MOPC carrier allow for a "Blanket" like wrapping which becomes part of your torso. I HIGHLY recommend the multi curve which is exclusive to CATI (patent pend or maybe already received) . I have directed many friends to this system. They all seem to agree 100%.

Comfortable plates
I ordered a pair of these plates with trauma pads. The comfort level is outstanding and way above anything my department issues me. Would definitely reccomend.
